Shining a Light: Spectroscopy Reveals Insects’ UV and Visible Reflectance
This experiment aims to measure the reflectance of various insect samples in both the UV and visible spectral ranges. We measured multiple insect samples to demonstrate the range of color measurements and UV measurements, which are not visible to the human eye but can be captured by a spectrometer. To perform these measurements, we used our new Spectroscopy Field Kit, enabling a single user to take spectroscopic measurements in the field and record data on a tablet computer.
